A three-centimetre blue-eye in which males turn near-fluorescent orange-red, described only in 2016 and now bred in numbers. It is short-lived, fast-maturing and best treated as a species to keep breeding rather than to keep.

Name ambiguity
Described in 2016. It circulated for years as an undescribed red form of Pseudomugil gertrudae and is still occasionally sold under that name.
