A long black spire, often eight centimetres of it, on a snail that grazes hard surfaces without touching plants. It is sold as a freshwater animal and is genuinely an estuarine one, which decides both its water and the fact that it will never breed in a tank.

What keeping this species involves
Undemanding day to day, and unforgiving about one thing. Soft acid water dissolves the shell from the tip down over months, and by the time it is obvious the damage is permanent.
