Cherry shrimp
The most forgiving dwarf shrimp in the hobby and the usual first one. Colour strains — red, yellow, blue, green, orange — are all the same species, which is why mixing them produces wild-type brown offspring within a few generations.

Adult size and growth
2.5–4 cm (1–1.6 in) — Females are larger; males stay around 2–2.5 cm.
Typical lifespan in an aquarium: 1–2 years. Almost every animal sold in a shop is a juvenile, so the tank has to suit the size in the first line rather than the size in the bag.

Behaviour
