Vampire shrimp

A heavy-bodied filter-feeding shrimp that reaches 15 cm and fans the current with four modified feeding limbs. It is the largest invertebrate in this catalogue and one of the few animals here that will starve in a tank that is too clean.

What keeping this species involves

Needs real current, high oxygen, suspended food and a long undisturbed moult. Any of those missing produces a shrimp that slowly wastes.
